The First Cozy Days of Fall 🍂
A cozy welcome to fall with warm cookies, caramelized peaches, cinnamon cake, pumpkin soup, and the simple seasonal recipes I can't wait to make.

There’s something about the first days of fall that always makes me want to spend a little more time in the kitchen. The weather starts to cool down, the days feel a little softer, and suddenly I’m craving all the warm, comforting things again. Freshly baked cookies, something bubbling away on the stove, the smell of cinnamon coming from the oven… basically, all the good stuff. 🤎
I think this is my favorite part of seasonal cooking. You don’t have to completely change what you make — sometimes the smallest details are enough to make a recipe feel like fall. A little cinnamon here, something warm from the oven there, and somehow the whole kitchen feels cozier.
So lately, I’ve been slowly bringing those flavors back into my kitchen. Nothing complicated, nothing too fancy. Just easy recipes that make an ordinary day feel a little more special.
And since fall is just getting started, I thought this would be the perfect time to share some of the things I’ll be cooking — and probably making more than once — this season. 🍂
That First Fall Feeling
I don’t think fall begins on one particular day. For me, it starts with little things.
It’s the first evening when you realize you want to close the window. The first time a warm dessert sounds better than something cold. The first day you turn on the oven and actually enjoy the warmth coming from it. And, of course, it’s that moment when cinnamon suddenly seems like it belongs in everything.
That’s when I know my kitchen is officially entering fall mode.
I love summer recipes — fresh fruit, cold desserts, colorful salads and anything that doesn’t require standing next to a hot oven for too long. But when the seasons begin to change, I’m always ready for something a little warmer.
Not necessarily heavier. Just… cozier.

I’m Not Ready to Say Goodbye to Summer Yet
The beginning of fall is that funny little period when I’m excited about cozy recipes but I’m not quite ready to let summer go. So instead of choosing between the two, I like mixing them. And fruit is probably one of my favorite ways to do that.
Take a peach, add a little butter and brown sugar, let it caramelize in the pan and suddenly it feels completely different. Put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top while the peach is still warm and you have a dessert that somehow tastes like the end of summer and the beginning of fall at the same time.
That’s exactly what I love about my caramelized peaches. They’re simple, warm and sweet, but the peach still keeps a little bit of summer on the plate.
I love recipes like this because they remind me that seasonal cooking doesn’t have to follow strict rules. Sometimes you can simply use what you already love and prepare it in a slightly different way.

Something Warm, Something Sweet
Then come the cookies. I don’t think I’ll ever need much convincing to bake cookies, but there’s something about making them when the weather starts getting cooler that feels especially good.
A cookie straight from the oven is already difficult to resist. But add a scoop of vanilla ice cream while it’s still warm and I’m officially done. 😄 The ice cream starts melting into the chocolate, the cookie is still soft in the middle, and suddenly a very simple dessert feels like the best thing you could possibly have made that day.
My warm cookies with vanilla ice cream are exactly the kind of recipe I love: simple ingredients, very little fuss and a result that feels much more special than the amount of work involved.
And honestly, those are usually the recipes I end up making again and again.
When the Kitchen Smells Like Cinnamon
If there is one smell that instantly makes me think of fall, it has to be cinnamon. And this is exactly why carrot cake starts sounding so good around this time of year.
Carrots, cinnamon and a soft cake baking in the oven… there’s nothing particularly complicated about it, but somehow the smell alone makes the whole kitchen feel warmer.
My carrot cinnamon cake is one of those cakes I love having around when I want something sweet with coffee. Nothing overly fancy. Just soft, comforting and full of that cinnamon smell that makes you walk into the kitchen to check how much longer it has left in the oven. 😄
And yes, I will probably add a little more cinnamon than necessary. That’s what fall is for, right?
Something Warm in a Bowl 🎃
And then there’s the first bowl of soup that actually feels right after summer. For me, pumpkin soup is one of those recipes that instantly makes the season feel different.
It’s warm, creamy and comforting, but still simple enough for an ordinary day. There’s also something about the color that I love. That beautiful orange on the table already looks like fall before you even take the first spoonful.
My pumpkin soup is exactly what I want when the evenings start getting cooler. Add some toasted bread on the side and honestly, I don’t need much more.
There’s something so comforting about holding a warm bowl of soup when it’s cool outside — and maybe this is the moment when I finally admit that summer really is over. 🍂

My Kind of Fall Cooking
When I think about fall food, I don’t immediately imagine complicated recipes that take an entire afternoon to prepare. You probably know me well enough by now to know that’s not really how I cook anyway.
I still want recipes that are simple enough to make on a normal weekday. The difference is that during fall, I start reaching for ingredients and flavors that make everything feel a little warmer.
Butter melting in a pan. Brown sugar caramelizing around fruit. Cinnamon coming from the oven. A warm bowl of soup on the table. Cookies baking while I’m already thinking about the ice cream I’m going to put on top.
Those little moments might actually be my favorite part of cooking. Sometimes the best recipes aren’t the ones with the longest ingredient lists. They’re the ones you start making almost without thinking — and then everyone suddenly appears in the kitchen asking when it will be ready. 😂
And Then There Are the Savory Things…
Of course, I can’t survive an entire season on cookies, cake and caramelized fruit. Well… technically I could try.
But fall also makes me want those easy savory dishes that come out of the oven hot and bubbling. Potatoes, melted cheese, mushrooms, peppers, chicken… the kind of ingredients you can turn into dinner without making the whole thing complicated.
This is probably where my everyday cooking style shows the most. I love food that looks irresistible when it reaches the table but doesn’t require twenty ingredients or three hours in the kitchen.
If I can put a few simple ingredients together, add something cheesy, crispy or saucy and turn it into something everyone wants another bite of, I’m happy.
The Best Recipes Sometimes Start With “What Do I Have?”
I plan recipes, of course, especially when I’m filming. But some of my favorite ideas still begin with opening the refrigerator and staring inside for a few seconds. 😄
A couple of vegetables that need to be used. Some cheese. Maybe potatoes. A sauce left from something else. And suddenly there’s an idea.
I think that’s also why I love sharing easy recipes so much. Most of us aren’t cooking in perfectly organized kitchens with every ingredient measured and waiting for us.
We’re hungry. It’s getting late. There are random things in the refrigerator. And dinner still needs to happen.
If one of my recipes can make that “What should I cook today?” decision a little easier, then I’m happy.
More Cozy Recipes Are Coming
So this is officially my little hello to fall.
There will definitely be more cookies. Probably more melted cheese than necessary. Apples will have to make an appearance soon, and I already know cinnamon is going to start showing up everywhere.
There will be warm soups, things bubbling in the oven, easy dinners and, knowing me, plenty of desserts too. But for now, I’m enjoying this little in-between part of the season — when there’s still a bit of summer left, but the kitchen is slowly starting to feel like fall.
A warm cookie, a caramelized peach, a slice of cinnamon carrot cake and a bowl of pumpkin soup. I think that’s a pretty good way to welcome the season. 🍂🤎
And I have a feeling we’re going to make some very good things together this fall.
So, let’s make something cozy. ♥️
