Savory Kadayif Pie (Crispy Turkish Shredded Pastry Bake)
This savory kadayif pie combines crispy shredded kadayif pastry with a colorful vegetable and cheese filling, all brought together with a rich egg and milk sauce and baked until beautifully golden.

Ingredients
Instructions
- Slice the onion and finely chop or grate the red pepper, zucchini, and carrot so the vegetables cook evenly in the filling.
- Sauté the onion until softened, then add the red pepper, zucchini, and carrot. Season with salt and black pepper and continue cooking until the vegetables have softened.
- Remove the vegetable mixture from the heat, add the kasar or cheddar cheese, and mix until evenly distributed. Set the filling aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, vegetable oil, and melted butter until well combined.
- Separate the kadayif strands well with your hands. Grease a baking dish and spread half of the kadayif evenly over the bottom without compressing it too tightly.
- Pour some of the prepared sauce evenly over the first kadayif layer, then spread the cooked vegetable and cheese filling across the surface.
- Cover the vegetable filling evenly with the remaining separated kadayif, then pour the rest of the sauce over the top so it reaches the pastry throughout the dish.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 30 minutes, or until the top is deeply golden and crisp.
- Let the savory kadayif pie rest for a few minutes after removing it from the oven, then slice and serve while the center is still warm and cheesy.
